Bolesworth in the community
Bolesworth has been invested in supporting the local community since 1898, when George Barbour built The Barbour Institute in the nearby village of Tattenhall in memory of his mother, Janet Andrew Barbour. In the years that followed, neighbouring Burwardsley parish was also provided with an institute of its own. The estate continues this tradition and over recent years has provided land that is used for Mill Brook Wildlife Corridor as well as Sport & Leisure Tattenhall which offers various sporting and leisure facilities to the local community. We’re delighted that these facilities serve their local communities and provide spaces for people to come together and share activities.
Official Charity Partner: Hope House Children’s Hospices
In 2021 we confirmed a new long-term partnership with the charity Hope House and were incredibly pleased that at our Crystal Ball in November our many wonderful guests helped us to raise over £21,000 for the charity.
Then in March 2022 three of the Bolesworth team undertook the Hope House 10 mile Llangollen canal walk, completing the walk in under 3.5 hours and exceeding their fundraising target for this fantastic charity.
The Bolesworth trio, Dan, Gaynor, and Tony, were delighted to have completed the walk and to have had the opportunity to support Hope House and the great work that they do.
Nina Barbour, Managing Director of Bolesworth, said: “I’m really proud of all our team for raising much-needed funds for this amazing charity. We chose to support Hope House as they, in turn, support so many families in our region who are experiencing the worst of times.
We look forward to continuing to support Hope House throughout 2022 and helping to ensure this much needed support is available to as many families as possible within our local community for a long time to come.”
Equestrian Relief
In early 2020 the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) began to affect all our lives, and while we tried to make sense of this new reality, the NHS was facing extreme pressure.
The team at Bolesworth decided to harness the power of equestrian sport to raise money and change lives, with donations going directly to the NHS Charities COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.
The 6 – 13 April 2020 saw leading Olympic riders from across the disciplines, as well as horse racing jockeys and celebrities take part in a series of fun team challenges.

Nina and the Bolesworth team were determined to do everything they could to support the remarkable hospital staff leading the fight on the front line while also helping vulnerable patients and their families.
With the support of so many of Bolesworth’s friends, clients, sponsors, suppliers and of course the British public, over £300,000 was raised to help hospital staff cope with the extraordinary demands of fighting the virus.
