The Arenacross Festival Races to Bolesworth This Summer

Europe’s most successful indoor motocross series, The Arenacross Tour, is set to head outdoors this summer for an amazing festival of racing, live music, freestyle motocross, shops, bars, family fun and so much more!

The Arenacross Festival (AXFest) races into the spectacular surroundings of Bolesworth Castle, Cheshire from September 15 – 17 for an unforgettable late summer weekend.

Motocross will take over the venue’s spectacular International Arena for three days and two nights of adrenaline-fueled entertainment. Traditionally known for hosting world-class equestrian, visitors to Bolesworth later this summer will be instead treated to Arenacross’ unparalleled brand of racing and freestyle action, supported by a host of live bands and DJs like never seen before in the sport.

Arenacross will construct a purpose-built track using 5,000 tons of dirt within the natural bowl of the International Arena, creating a unique, unparalleled theatre of motocross action.

Race fans and newcomers alike can look forward to racing from a host of classes, from top professionals to six-year-olds, plus Arenacross’ freestyle team will be on hand to wow visitors with their gravity-defying stunts throughout.

Outside the arena, there’ll be an entire festival to explore, with plenty of places to eat and drink, family fun activities, live music, camping, live shows, bike experiences and more.

Arenacross promotor Matt Bates said: “Following the amazing sell-out Arenacross British Championship earlier this year, the feedback we received was people wanted more. Whilst the Arenacross tour will return in 2024, we decided to do something completely new for our amazing fans.

“AXFest is everything you’d expect from Arenacross… but outside and a whole lot more! Bolesworth is renowned in the world of equestrian for putting on some of the greatest horse shows, which is why we can’t wait to bring a different kind of horse power to the International Arena this summer together with live music, camping, shops, bars and plenty of have-a-go experiences.

“As for the race classes, we’re going all out and giving every single class the sport has to offer the opportunity to race and qualify through to the hugely successful indoor 2024 AX tour.”

Nina Barbour, Managing Director of Bolesworth said: “We can’t wait to welcome the New Arenacross festival to Bolesworth later this summer. It’s a different kind of horsepower than we’re used to, but we can’t wait to bring something really special to our existing AX fans and introducing our Bolesworth audience to this adrenaline fuelled event for the whole family!”

Arenacross Celebrates Sell-Out Show in Birmingham

The penultimate round of the Arenacross British Championship stormed into the Resorts World Arena, NEC, Birmingham on Saturday, the 4th of February, with a heady line up of the very best British Pro motocross racers, supported by a further five classes of Pro Am and Youth competitors.

The Arenacross Tour presented by Fix Auto has enjoyed several firsts this year. It is the first time the race series has been officially sanctioned by the UK’s Auto Cycle Union (ACU) as a fully-fledged British Championship. It is the first time the Pro line up has been British-only with the reigning British MX1 and MX2 champions in the mix. It is the first-time an all-electric motocross series is a British Championship. And … it is the first time to witness sell-out shows at Belfast and Birmingham.

Eight thousand fans of live action-sports and family entertainment packed the Resorts World Arena on Saturday night, while the total live streaming viewing figures across the tour to date totals an astonishing 260,000. This, on the back of both Belfast and Aberdeen being sell-out shows, confirms that ArenacrossUK is well and truly on the racing map both in the UK, and throughout the world.

On the Pro Arenacross racing front, Tommy Searle, GTCi Revo Kawasaki cleaned up with a flawless performance in both Pro heats and Main Event final. Joe Clayton was the fastest qualifier in the morning sessions. Searle won the overall heats qualifying and Jake Nicholls won the head-to-heads eliminator. Clayton, Searle and Nicholls each collected an additional point for their efforts. Teenager Ben Clayton made it through to his first Main Event thanks to earning the support of fans, family and friends in the People’s Vote.

At the post-event press conference, the top three Pro riders spoke of their Birmingham experience and Arenacross in general;

Jack Brunell – “I’m really happy. The goal was to be on podium every weekend and at the end of the championship be in the fight. I had a setback at the opening round in Belfast but am back on it now. The track was good tonight. Being so technical, it showed what we’re about. We’ve got the two motocross British champions on the line up and I think that next year it can only get stronger. This is the future, rather than standing in a wet field.”

Conrad Mewse – “It was a great night. Coming into the championship, I wanted to do well for our sponsors and team. Overall, we have had solid results and, as a team, at least one of us has always been on the podium. It’s been another fantastic event. The dirt here in Birmingham is incredible. Every round has been different so far which keeps us on our toes. It is so different from what we’re used to and every weekend I feel more and more comfortable with the challenge. It’s a great championship and I see it as only being beneficial, no negatives whatsoever.

Tommy Searle – “The day was good. I was fastest in two practices and won the overall, felt comfortable all night and feel good with my team. Arenacross and its live streaming motivates me massively and I’m enjoying riding. I want to try and win the races to look good on YouTube! I take my hat off to Matt (Bates) and the team. If I was to choose a series next year when I maybe scale it down a bit, this would be my one to choose. My main sponsor at GTCi watches the live streaming, loves it and is coming to London. He’s happy, I’m happy. I would love to see more manufacturers get involved and hope it’s heavily supported next year.

Heading into the final round, Searle leads Mewse by two points. Whatever happens at the usually-dramatic last round in London, one thing is a cert – it’s going to be a hard-fought, head-to-head battle to the line between both reigning British Motocross Champions.

Arenacross Raises the Roof in Packed Out Belfast Arena

The Arenacross Tour presented by Fix Auto UK ripped through Belfast over the weekend with two evenings of full British Arenacross Championship race-action, ballistic Freestyle MX and plenty of family fun.

On the British Arenacross Championship racing front, the full-to-capacity Belfast audience witnessed 20 of Britain’s best Pro motocross riders lining up on the Arenacross start line for the first-ever officially-sanctioned British Arenacross Championship.

Before the racing burst into action, sports personality and six-times World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea, put his Kawasaki KX250 through its paces with a few laps of the challenging Belfast Arena circuit. Gordon Crockard, arguably Ireland’s most successful, motocross rider joined him on the Arenacross podium.

Reigning British Motocross MX1 Champion Tommy Searle, GTCi Revo Kawasaki, took round one glory, while the MX2 Champion Conrad Mewse, Crendon Fastrack Honda Racing, claimed the win and lifted the trophy in round two. Searle heads to rounds three and four at Aberdeen with a single point lead over Mewse; both riders scooped maximum points for the race win. Searle picked up two additional points for qualifying in first place after the completion of all heats on both nights, while Mewse was awarded an extra point for being the fastest qualifier in round two – a bonus granted to Joe Clayton (Mark McCann 64 YouTube Channel) the previous day. Josh Gilbert, Mewse’s Crendon Fastrack Honda Racing team-mate rounded out the Arenacross Pro Championship podium after a gruelling route through to both Main Event finals. In the first round, he won the Head-to-Heads, for which he collected a further point and finished third on the night. In the second round, however, he was truly tested by having to work his way through to the Last Chance Qualifier, which he won. Troy Lee Designs GASGAS rider Jack Brunell returned from injury to take an impressive third spot in round two.

In the closely-matched Pro Am class, Welshman Josh Greedy topped the championship leaderboard with two class wins. He didn’t have it all his own way though as fellow Welshman Sion Talbot also took a pair of race wins, with third-placed Travis Steels and Kyle Lane, in fourth, taking a win apiece.

The new-for-2023 Futures class was headed by two Belfast locals with 20-year-old Charley Irwin taking two wins to lead the championship into Aberdeen. He has a two-point advantage over Reece Ross who is two points ahead of Joel Fisher in third.

Isaac Ash from Exeter dominated the Supermini British Championship with an outstanding performance across both opening rounds. He won every class in convincing style – the only rider across all Arenacross groups to do so. He is in a enviable position of carrying maximum points to Aberdeen this weekend. Harry Lee, from Sussex, sits second in the championship followed by Omagh’s Lewis Spratt and York’s Austin Beasty who are joint third.

The T-Racers AX65 Youths, Friday night’s winner Casey Lister from Telford, leads the championship charge with Saturday night’s winner Ethan Gawley, a wildcard from Belfast in second and John Slade from Ashford in third. Lister’s form stands him in good stead for the rest of the series.

Another new and innovative aspect of the Arenacross Tour is the introduction of the inaugural AX-E5 Electric British Championship with machines supplied by KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles and GASGAS. Each place in the first two rounds were filled by riders local to Belfast. While the bikes were the smallest, and the racers the youngest, they entertained and delighted the crowd as much as their faster and louder racing compatriots. The AX-E5 series will welcome a different set of riders to each venue, with the top four from Belfast, Aberdeen and Birmingham invited to compete in the final at Wembley where the 2023 AX-E5 British Champion will be crowned. The four competitors ranked through to the final from Belfast are Jax Knox, Max Jones, Jack McGrath and Matthew McGee. Every youngster in this class rode their hearts out on the very same track as the Pro racers, they all earnt the support and respect of the Belfast fans and are destined to be race stars of the future.

Prior to the opening of the show, visitors to the SSE Arena were treated to foyer activities including a Traxxas radio controlled have-a-go lap, displays of the KTM, Husqvarna, and GASGAS electric E5 bike range, rider autograph sessions and merchandise outlets. Then, once the T-shirt cannons and Mexican waves had been executed, the emotive show-opening was followed by a burst of Traxxas Freestyle MX activity and best whip competition featuring Europe’s best beat-boxing FMX-er Spaniard Edgar Torronteras, and the leading British FMX trick specialists Jamie Squibb, Dan Whitby, Arran Powley, Josh Morris and Ryan Powley.

Doors to round three of the Arenacross Tour will open at 6pm this Saturday the 28th of January at the P&J Live Arena in Aberdeen. The show gets underway at 7.30pm.
